A critical security Exploit has been discovered in the multiplayer version of Minecraft, which includes servers and clients running versions of Minecraft as far back as 1.7.

Mojang has not officially provided any specifics about the exploit but advises players not to play any versions before Minecraft 1.17 for the time being. If you're using vanilla launcher restarting the game's launcher should download a fix for the vulnerability, fixing Minecraft versions 1.12 through 1.18. Versions prior to Minecraft 1.12 may still be vulnerable. The exploit is related to Log4j, before version 2.15, which can be found in the Minecraft client and server.

Any Minecraft server running a vulnerable version of Log4j is susceptible to having an attacker remotely run the downloaded code on a user's computer, which may allow the attacker to gain access to the device. The vulnerability lies in Log4j which allows connections to be made to arbitrary URLs, which may then download malicious code to a user's computer.

ExtremeCraft already patched the issue, but you should be sure you're running Minecraft 1.17 or higher, update your Launcher, or both.

As a temporary workaround before the release of 1.18.1, Mojang advises disabling the lookup feature of Log4j using a JAR argument when starting the game (enabled by default when you update your Launcher): -Dlog4j2.formatMsgNoLookups=true

OpSurvival Server reset

As some of you probably noticed, we're currently testing Minecraft 1.17.1 on OpSurvival server. Unfortunately due to the number of plugins that had to be updated this took a bit longer than anticipated. But now we're happy to announce you can preview 1.17.1 in its full glory on our OpSurvival server, be sure to report any possible issues and bugs.

As of now, you can connect to OpSurvival with Minecraft 1.9 or higher, tho it's recommended to use Minecraft 1.17 or 1.17.1. Also please note that the current OpSurvival server is still prerelease, it will be reset and released on 22nd October.

Most of the plugins and features were already updated to 1.17.1, but we're still working on things like Custom Enchants that will be added later on.

With OpSurvival reset, we will be bringing back the vanilla world generator, which means OpSurvival world will contain Caves, Mineshafts, Dungeons, etc. Sadly this also means we're going to merge SurvivalPlus and OpSurvival into one server, the current state of SurvivalPlus is rather bad and it's impossible to keep it updated and running as some of you already noticed.

Hardcore Factions release

It finally happened, the Hardcore Factions server is now open!

We're sorry about all the delays and issues, but unfortunately, it took longer than anticipated.

With that out of the way, I would like to point out again that the new Hardcore Factions server is and will stay EULA compliant. Meaning you won't have any in-game advantages whenever you're playing with Member or Nexus rank. As result some of the permissions for Member rank were updated on the Hardcore Factions server (extra homes, silk spawners, ...), we understand this might be a bit different from Factions servers we had before but there really is no other way.

As you can imagine you also can't buy crates keys, in-game money, boss items from the store, instead you can now get them by voting, by winning KOTH events, or simply by looting Envoys.

Outposts and most of the recently added custom features are there, grace period as usual and we're still working on some updates and bug fixes.

Since this was a major group/permissions update, bug reports, as well as suggestions, are welcomed! With suggestions, just keep in mind ranks can not give any kinds of advantages, unless we give it to everyone (Member rank).

Anarchy, Factions, Ranks...

It's happening! As most of you probably already noticed, HallOfFame season ended on OpFactions and with that, we're removing Factions and OpFactions servers from ExtremeCraft.

But I wanna play Factions! We've got you covered, hopefully. Next Friday (6th) we will be releasing a new Factions server. Now since Factions gamemode is competitive by definition and we want to keep the server EULA compliant, the new Factions server won't be PayToWin. Global ranks will not give players any advantages and it will be impossible to buy spawners, keys, or anything like that. Unfortunately, that's the only way to keep the Factions server alive and part of ExtremeCraft.

We're also bringing back Global ranks, which of course won't give any advantages on competitive servers (say new Factions server for example). All those changes to Global ranks required a lot of changes and updates, if there are any bugs please let us know. While we're at it we've also decided to update the Anarchy server (not to 1.17 tho that's coming soon too), but we're bringing the Anarchy server closer to what it "should" be, which means the removal of some perks that were part of global ranks and removal of Lockette plugin.

Players who already bought per server ranks, had their ranks automatically upgraded into global ranks. Also, we're happy to announce connectivity issues should now be fixed.
Following up on the recent changes with EULA and Global ranks, we've decided to end the current HallOfFame season on OpFactions server a bit sooner than usual, which means the current week is the last week of this season.

With all the changes related to ranks, gameplay and more it doesn't make sense to reset OpFactions and Factions anymore, and even if we do it's likely not going to be very enjoyable to play. Instead, we've decided to retire both Factions and OpFactions servers.

Now, since it seems like there are still quite a few players interested in playing Factions we will be releasing a new server, Hardcore Factions. Since ExtremeCraft was removed from the blacklist and we're now strictly following the new EULA, Hardcore Factions will still be a competitive gamemode but without any Pay2Win perks.

With that, we're also bringing back global ranks. Players who already bought per server ranks will have those ranks automatically upgraded into Global ranks, that being said Hardcore Factions will be the only competitive server in our network at least for time being, which means Global ranks will give players no advantages on Hardcore Factions (only things like cosmetics and titles).

We understand this might be kinda unexpected to some players but unfortunately it's the only way to move forward.

OpSurvival Beta

We're currently testing our new OpSurvival!
There are many changes and additions so we decided to release a beta in /go testing for a week or so, feel free to join our Beta testing Discord to leave feedback and report issues! Discord Invite (you must be verified on our main Discord in order to participate)

You've probably already heard some chatter about this, but the EULA is changing, and after seeing most of our players are more interested in fun causal servers, compared to competitive servers, we've decided to embrace this. We already started working on and are finishing up store and server updates to get ExtremeCraft fully EULA compliant. We know some players prefer competitive servers but as you saw over the past year, this never really worked out well for ExtremeCraft.

What does that mean?

As of now, all HallOfFame seasons have finished, except on Factions servers. With exception of Factions servers, we will be changing all ExtremeCraft servers into non-competitive servers, as such most of the perks being sold on those game modes are already compliant with the new EULA. Instead of focusing on making our servers competitive, we will be focusing on catching up on updates, yes 1.17 is coming to ExtremeCraft real soon, with new blocks, new mobs, new features, and more.

What about Factions and OpFactions?

We're not planning on changing our global ranks but they will be removed from the store and replaced with new ranks and perks. Furthermore, we will not be adding back any ranks or perks on Factions and OpFactions servers, that would provide players with unfair advantages. For now Factions and OpFactions will be the only competitive servers left on ExtremeCraft.

Bans? Unbans? Unban all?

Following the new EULA, we also proceeded to remove Unbans from our store. We've recently revised our rules and updated our AI handling ban appeals so that ban appeals won't be auto-closed anymore if you had too many offenses. We're NOT doing "unban all", blindly unbanning all players left and right as we've tried that in the past and it didn't really work out, but you are welcomed to submit a ban appeal if you're banned.

HallOfFame changes

With all those changes in mind, HallOfFame rewards are now BiWeekly and only on Factions and OpFactions servers.

OpFactions reset 2021!

As promised everything from faster SandBots, Wall Generators to Outposts was added with this OpFactions reset. But there's more, we also added a whole new system for Custom Enchants, improved Custom Enchant NPCs and the way items are handled on Anvils.

We've also updated /f topinfo and /od durabilities, important thing to keep in mind is that we're going to remove Diamond Blocks and Emerald Blocks from /od durabilities with the next restart, but they will still count for FTOP points.

Hopper limit was raised from 40 to 60, which also affects double, triple, and quadruple limits. Instead of adding TNTBankTool kit we've decided to add it to /shop. Player power was increased from 50 to 60 which should help with outposts, tho outposts will only start to spawn after the grace period is over. Following this, we also updated crates, vote rewards, and OpFactions server economy.

As part of Store updates, in-game money, McMMO credits, and IronGolem spawners were removed, vouchers from HallOfFame season are now only valid for 7 days. However this is just a start, we will be adding new stuff shortly.
It's been a while and if you have noticed yet, OpFactions server is being reset this Friday (4th)! That being said we already pushed some updates to OpFactions including new Custom Enchants. Unfortunately, all old Custom Enchants are now disabled, but you're welcome to test out and give feedback on new Custom Enchants. You can get new enchants at /warp enchanter via NPC and to make things even easier we added XP Bottles to in-game shop (super cheap only $1).

Some of the new things coming to OpFactions with the next reset include:
- TNTTool, you can get with /kit tnttool
- Fixed /f unclaim all bugs, also only Faction leader can now do /f unclaim all
- Updated Faction MOTD, fixed color bugs
- Added new commands to manage Faction Access /f access clear|clearallPlayerclearallFaction
- Fixed /f who/show commands
- Added /f rel check command
- Territory permission was replaced with two different permissions (Claim and Unclaim)
- Updated /f gui to include new features
- Fixed Door top desync bugs
- Added /f chunklist (see list of chunks claimed by your Faction)
- Added new TPA permission
- /f tntfill and /f buytntfill commands were remove (replaced with nearby versions of those commands)
- You can now also use inventory (default) or tntbank parameter on /f tntfill
- Added Ally limit (1) and Truce limit (3)
- Fixed /f home and /f warp commands (tp delay, wrong tp location, fixed tping under bedrock)
- Improved ExtremeCreepers
- Withers were disabled
- Replaced FixAll villager with FixHand villager (at /warp shop)
- You can now only join OpFactions with Minecraft 1.8 and up to 1.12.2

AcidIsland

Hall Of Fame season running on AcidIsland server just ended, mainly because players were just leveraging it to farm free vouchers while there were not actually that many players playing AcidIsland. At this point, we're unable to confirm when the next AcidIsland server reset will come or if Hall Of Fame will still be a thing on AcidIsland - this mainly depends on the amount of players who are interested in actually playing AcidIsland server.

Store and Vouchers

We're planning to remove some P2W items from the store and changing Hall Of Fame Vouchers a bit within the next few days, to prevent players from hijacking whole HOF seasons making it difficult if not impossible for others to play.

Any minecart is a MineCar, just ride it and drive away

Sorry for the lack of updates and reset lately, it's been a busy period but don't worry we have several things planned for the coming weeks sunglasses

New Rank Colors

We are working on a load of changes and updates, among others we would also like to change the colors of our donor ranks so that each rank could have its own unique color, for this we would like your opinion so vote here which color combination you like the most thumbsup https://www.extremecraft.net/polls/

This one has been requested since quite a bit of time, you will start seeing chat games now every hour or so, the classics "Unscramble the word", "Math question" and "Type the following" (we're open to suggestions for more games you'd like to see)

New PvP Knockback

This is also something a lot of you have been suggesting since a while, we now changed the knockback values on all the gamemodes based on your valuable feedback provided on /go pvp, the changes are effective everywhere starting from now

1.17 Plans

Yes, 1.17 when. We are waiting for 1.17 Minecraft (set to release around mid year), after that it will be a couple of weeks wait time for the server version to be released and once that's out we'll try to reset and update SurvivalPlus to that
And maybe some other gamemodes will receive the update as well. We'll see, wink wink.

Anvil Color Preview

Really minor quality of life update but, if you have a rank that lets you, when you try to color items in anvil you will see the live preview of what the name will be instead of seeing the ugly & everywhere

Rules Less Strict

We're trying to correct our aim and improve our rules and punishments, for this reason we slightly changed the punishments issued in some cases and we will also be less strict when it comes to handling ban appeals.

Party Limits

We're trying to address the issue of big parties in PvP without also affecting everyone else so from now on friendly fire will be automatically toggled on when there are 30 or more party members online

Factions Reset April 2021

Factions reset is finally here! Due to a few last-minute bugs (player power, wilderness, etc) we had to delay reset a bit :( That being said the are quite a few changes, you should start by checking out new, updated rules for the Factions server: https://www.extremecraft.net/rules/details/

There are also some new features, over the past few days we already added SandBots, which can now be used on Factions, OpFactions, and Cannoning server. The changes on Factions server...

We've updated FTOP and added Outposts that can be blown up or overclaimed. Outposts spawn with End Crystals that are now included in FTOP. Of course, End Crystals can be blown. Outposts will start spawning in Wilderness once the grace period is over.

Economy and crates were also updated, while Envoy rewards will be changed and updated every now and then. Each Faction now has its own TNT Bank and we added TNT Bank Tool to make your life easier. Last but not least Armor stand/Entity explosions were fixed!

- Durability bugs were fixed (0 durability blocks etc)
- Updated /me command (it's part of public chat again)
- New Kit: /kit tnttool
- Fixed Captcha bugs and verification, also toned down spam filters a bit
