The Flaws of EC - How To Fix Them

- Friday, April 16th 2021 -

// What is this?

This article was composed to pin point the incalculable misconducts and/or the one sided preferential/prejudiced judgmental activities done by the Staff Team against players. This article moreover contains the various imperfections EC has been encountering for ages (with evidence) , Guidance on how to ace evasive maneuvering and evade the predicaments and work towards an arrangement that will in this manner bring complete and utter satisfactory to all fields of the server comprehensive (Staff, Players ...)
------------------------------------------------------------
// Flawed ticket method

First of all, the Staff Team directs players to the suggestions forum if they have an idea on how to improve a certain aspect of the server or the addition of an entirely new facility that will thereby benefit the server. For example, a new gamemode, a new command designated for a certain rank, an act like unban all etc. but, the majority of the suggestions players handed which are actually useful for the server either get denied or shortlisted for ages until the player forgets about the suggestions and so do the staff team. It’s time for a new role ‘TicketManager’ to be handed to a trusted member of the Staff Team to handle these tickets/suggestions as ‘we are doing our best to work through them’ is no longer a valid excuse. It’s time you as managers pay attention to the beneficial suggestions of the forums and what the community wants instead of focusing your efforts on accepting title suggestions and deciding whether to color them blue or red. For example, a vastly requested action was an Unban All. When this idea was proposed to Dieu, he stated that the majority of the community does NOT want an unban all and he goes with the majority. This was completely wrong as we showed him that an unban all was what the community desired most by flooding the suggestions section with unban all requests and most of which have received over 50 upvotes (the most upvoted category in EC history). #UnbanAll also became a prosperous trend among the EC Official discord. This attempt was shut down by the head administrator though, and threats were made against the organizers of the campaign for a lifetime blacklist (no unban ban) if the so called ‘raids’ which what Dieu basically asked for continued.

// Unfair judgments by Staff

( A ) In this section of the article, we would like to point out that players who are placed in the no unban category are thrown into a void of disliked by-staff-players and therefore possess a 0% chance of coming back to the server disregarding/paying absolutely no attention to how much they have contributed/supported the server or even if they were guilty or innocent. For example, the player ‘Forsaken710’ who has had nearly a 0 offense record throughout his time playing on the server and yet despite that, he was still Blacklisted (no unban banned) on his first ban disregarding how much financial/moral support he had provided for the server.

|| Evidence: Here is a screenshot of Forsaken710's offense logs (He has only has 1 mild offense prior to his blacklist), https://imgur.com/a/iKv1qL5
|| Here are screenshots confirming that the player known as zSONNYX has been banned falsely, The staff team know about all of the evidence we are providing to you, Yet they refuse to unban zSONNYX simply due to the fact HyperDce dislikes him.
|| https://imgur.com/a/oGdxncl Jantic and zSONNYX were banned for the same reason but Jantic was unbanned and zSONNYX was not.
|| https://imgur.com/a/xdKMHYm Here we have confirmation that zSONNYX's flag of the SS tool had been false (The person in the screenshot is/was a moderator of the paladin SS tool at the time this screenshot was taken).
|| https://imgur.com/a/mAe7Z1E And lastly, here is evidence that zSONNYX's ban had been judged unfairly due to bias, In this screenshot HyperDce is stating that zSONNYX will not be getting unbanned due to the fact he was in AHT (Anti Hacker Team).

( B ) Staff promotions off of relations/liking are a common thing that takes place on EC. Staff get demoted/promoted in short time spans because the people in control are corrupt and decide not on work/effort done but by how much they like that certain person and how much they’re willing to be as corrupt as them and not be fair and seek help from upper administration. For example, players like Forsaken710 were demoted from the staff team because HyperDce simply disliked them. He was doing quadruple the work a JrHelper was expected to perform. He made plans to revamp game modes, discovered brand new advanced mechanism SS tools, moderated discord and in-game chat fairly with no signs of biased judgements yet got demoted for corrupt reasons. Another example is the player HollieDce who is now a Staff Manager solely because HyperDce ‘likes/trusts’ her over hard working individuals such as Nirz51 who have been stuck at Helper despite being a veteran of over 4+ years login time on ec and the almost perfect behavior record in-game. Hollie has been barely registered for a year and is a Staff Manager. ONE rank below administrator.

Nirz51 has remained Helper for 4 months despite working as hard or even harder than HollieDce who has been promoted to Moderator and Staff Manager in just above 2 months, This is a prime example of staff promotions being off personal relations.

|| Evidence: The dates of Staff promotions aswell as positions can be viewed here, https://www.extremecraft.net/staff/
|| Nirz's Registration date can be found here, https://www.extremecraft.net/players/nirz51/
|| HollieDce's Registration date can be found here, https://www.extremecraft.net/players/holliedce/

// Outdated game modes

( A ) There are numerous game modes on EC that either receive too much attention or too little attention and the attention given is extremely poorly divided over the game modes. Game modes like OpFactions reset in February and barely have 30 players online each day. RPG, Anarchy and Acid island are all dead game modes which receive no attention from players. Sure enough, they were fun 3 years ago but they got boring really quickly. Especially when they barely receive updates/resets. We think, for this part of the argument, new game modes should be introduced to EC every 5-6 months, every 5-6 months a new game is introduced, and recycle the game modes. For example, in January we’d have RPG, in June we’d receive a different gamemode and in December we’d get a different gamemode. Next June we bring back a reformed RPG with the features the community wants. If the pressure is a lot to handle then let the community’s creativity run free. Instead of doing Meme of the month giveaways/prizes, put the prizes to something useful and give them to a ‘Suggestion of the month’ where the best suggestion gets a prize. In this case, players are motivated to suggest and brainstorm their brains to get their hands on the prize. The important suggestions go unnoticed while the attention is given to title suggestions..

( B ) Update game modes. The PvP gamemode has been out for several years now and it still has the holographic sign where it states that the gamemode is in beta mode and to report bugs to the Staff. More attention needs to be given to this server for example. Let the builders build new maps, reset the ELO leaderboard every 3-6 months to actually have a competition to be in the top 5 fighters of the server. Give out rewards for the top 3. We want this. Having 50 players at 2k+ELO just dims the spark and the fun we once had in the soul of the challenge of this server.

// Refurbished punishment system

We believe that the punishment system we have right now is too strict for such a small playerbase to follow. If we take a look at vastly successful servers like Hypixel, we notice that their staff team is extremely lenient when it comes to punishing. Moreover, there are too many ‘loopholes’ in the EC punishing system when seniors wish to create them. What we mean by this is that rules can be bent or more appropriately put, changed when it comes to punishing certain players. And as a result of such, Favoritism is born. Certain players could receive a two week ban from the server and others could receive a no unban permanent ban for literally doing the exact same offense. This needs to be canceled/removed for a far better, less biased, more lenient punishment system to be constructed. We have already discussed this matter in a previous post but we are going to say it again to perhaps sway you in our favor this time to finally continue the server’s prosperous years and thrive as a community.

Section A

Statistical Analysis:

We have taken the time in the previous week to consider the Extremecraft player count in the course of recent years and we made an honest effort to get a rough estimate, at that point we built a plotted chart graph to diagram a rough estimate of how the players tally of the server has been pervading the years from 2016 as far as possible up to 2020. In this diagram, we will profoundly recognize and elucidate how the chart's plots have been adjusted by all out and huge occasions. (Mass unban, updated anti-cheat , and so on)

You can find this rough estimate here,
https://i.imgur.com/jnTjpow.png

Extremecraft has finished its thriving year of 2016 at an average of 1630 players. Followed by a more prosperous year, 2017, Extremecraft has descried a principal increment in the quantity of average players. Arriving at the apex of progression, at a normal of 2120 players. By finishing the year 2017 with a normal of 1721, 2017 is viewed as a blizzard in a rainfall for Extremecraft. In 2018, regardless of as yet being notorious for its euphoric and amusing climate, Extremecraft has confronted a fairly unpleasant year in contrast with its forerunner partners. Finishing with an average of 1297 players. 2019 accompanies an astounding impact as the upper administration team concluded that the time had come to do an unban all occasion. A colossal expansion in player tally followed by, soon after the mass unban where players have passed an incredible 1782 normal players without precedent for an extended period of time. 2019 sustains to optically observe a plenty of variance regarding player tally. By May-June, with the joining of the flawlessly fresh and updated anti-cheat, Extremecraft hits a stunning purpose of 1879 players. Finishing the year with 1405 averaged players.

2020 has been cursed with a deadly pandemic as we as a whole ken. Schools, occupations, strict sanctuaries, temples and mosques have all been vaporously shut to forfend occupants from the infection. Considering about the conditions, Extremecraft was expected to be flourishing during this season. Both monetarily and environmentally with enhanced and enriched positive players. Startlingly, the absolute opposite happened. That is because of a few reasons. Some of which are more critical than others.

Section B

The Problem with Extremecraft's Punishment System:
Extremecraft has always had some issues with their punishment model. The current model is that a great deal of offenses will lead to a permanent ban. This is problematic for several reasons.

Ridiculously strict punishments
First off, the ways in which a permanent ban can be received are unnecessarily strict. You can be banned for having a blatant hacked client on your desktop, even if you've never used it on EC and have never triggered logs to suggest so.
Another way you can get permanently banned is through chat logs. Players have been banned for making jokes about cheating or world downloading in chat, which have reflected into a permanent ban for an offense that may or may not have ever happened.
The rules regarding how easy it is to receive one of these bans should be changed, as they're causing a massive deficit in the player base.

Damage to server and playerbase
The second issue is the way permanent bans harm the Extremecraft community and economy. The sudden removal of prominent players has caused much of Extremecraft's rich player base to dwindle. Servers like survival and factions, which were at one point active for the entirety of seasons, have become desolate, with just a few dozen players online. This marks the leaving of many content creators that brought in hype and publicity for the server. Many of these creators were based around the so-called "OG'' community of EC, which had many veteran players.

The issue is, after a certain amount of bans and offenses, you're banned from the server with no opportunity of returning. With the years of playtime these players have invested, as well as the strictness of the punishment system, it's no surprise that so many well-known players have been removed from the community.

The damage to the server’s opportunities has also been evident. The wide-spread permanent banning of individuals has led to player counts dwindling, and the server becoming less exciting, thus reducing the attraction and appeal of the server. The server, of course, also loses out on critical opportunities to sell keys, kits, and ranks, which will reduce the budget for further development of the server.

The following is just an example of what we think a good punishment system could look like:
Cheating punishments (Currently 1st offense, permanent ban)
- 1st offense, 1 month tempban
- 2nd offense, 3 month tempban
- 3rd offense, 6 month tempban
- 4th+ offense, 1 year ban
Abolish the limit of one purchased unban, instead allowing for players to remove a month off of their ban for a certain amount of money.
Abolish the “no unban” permanent bans, and instead replace them with a 1 year ban for repeat offenses. Do not allow for unbans to be purchased for this punishment.
Perform one final unban all. Offenders who cheat/exploit, or break any other major rule should be moved immediately to the 3rd offense of 6 months tempban.
Keep the permanent ban for players who have in any way seriously threatened the security/safety of the server or players.

Honesty

Obviously, there’s a lot of people who are banned, who are advocating for this unban all and reform. It’s true, a lot of them want to be back, they want to engage in the community, and they want to play on the server again. There’s no disguising the effort here. We’re being completely honest. Some of us will be repeat offenders, or find ourselves in unfortunate situations. That’s the reality that comes with refreshing the community, and the server’s health. With the new system, you can make sure that these offenders will face a long period of reflection, before rejoining the community. Some of us have changed, and wisened up to breaking the rules. Give us, and the server, another chance to be great.

What works?

Honestly, Extremecraft may be one of the richest communities ever. It’s tightly-knit, and there’s a lot of potential for the server. The adoption of a temporary ban system would help improve it. With escalating temporary bans of up to a year, like Hypixel’s ban model, it would reduce the amount of degradation that the community experiences. The deterrent would still be there, warning any potential cheaters or exploiters of a lengthy ban that they may face, should they break the rules. Without some long-term solution, the only way the community can refresh itself is through an uncommon and unreliable source: An unban all.

A last unban all
We want to see Extremecraft continue to have the spark and appeal that it had shortly after the unban all. That period was fantastic, with consistent youtuber activity, and an active player base across several servers. The details will be yours to decide, but we hope you’ll accept the notion that an unban all would absolutely help revitalize the server. And with some reforms and improvements upon the current punishment system, we could see the server continue to flourish for a long while afterwards.

So yeah, that’s why we want an unban all. It’s not a perfect system that we’re suggesting, and I’m sure you can improve upon it. And it’s not a perfect player base that we have. There will be some rule breakers among us. However, we implore you to make these changes, and give the legions of banned players another opportunity. Extremecraft will not become lawless, or struggle to punish those who deserve it. It will be given a new lease on life, with new and old youtubers, new and old videos, new and old players, and new and old funds for development of solutions and gamemodes. This opportunity for an unban all, should you choose to grasp it, should be the last reawakening of Extremecraft, and a catalyst for improvement.

Section C

Business standpoint
This section of the forum document will be divided into three parts to further explain the importance of carrying out an unban all

(1) Income

Being predominant and first, expanded income will arise with the occasion. This is because of the players needing to go through cash to make up for lost time where they have left of, or to increase highest prevalence over their opponents. Expanded pay will come from the money players spend on (Spawners, Cosmetics like trails or face emojis, additional utilities like player vaults, homes .. you get the gist)

(2) Player diversity

At the point when the mass unban occurs, hundreds of players will return to Extremecraft. Beside going through heaps of cash, they are likewise going to drag their companions and opponents with them to a possibly, more euphoric and engaging server with different fun game modes. This will significantly affect the quantity of players. On the off chance that the vital advances are done properly and effectively, Extremecraft is relied upon to hit the zenith of greatness and keep on sending on with its progression. Because of the different game modes accessible on Extremecraft, this solitary implies that there is a game mode for everyone out there ready to check the worker out. Furthermore, we're practically sure that the inspiration of evaluating Extremecraft will be at any rate multiple times higher when you're mindful that your banned friends can now likewise go along with you on your Minecraft experience in the game modes of the server.

(3) Diversity of opinion

When Extremecraft is presented to the new players and the invigorated restored network, its discussions will be very free to join in and like the groundbreaking thoughts players will propose for (gamemodes, titles, store makeup, and so on) with that being done, new gamemodes might arise and the server could keep on developing dramatically and climb up the servers hierarchy ranks. We, as "OG" players solidly believe that Extremecraft is more than capable to compete on the hierarchy ladder with other premium servers and come out victorious if necessary steps are done.
^ The presented suggestion has received 150 upvotes by the community(You can find it here, https://www.extremecraft.net/suggestions/view/6938/). and this is one of the few suggestions which have received great support from the community.

// Unban all

We will keep this short as this is an extremely controversial topic. We said it before and we will say it once again. The server is now in desperate need of refreshment than it ever was. We all agreed on it before and we will agree on it again. Unban all players and let the player base flourish again like it once did before. We acknowledge that players considered danger to the community like pedophiles/doxxers ought to be kept banned, we know that. Unban the players with normal offenses. The majority of the players on EC want the unban all to happen.

You can check out the several videos/suggestions we have presented here: For the suggestion, Click this, https://www.extremecraft.net/suggestions/view/6938/, For the videos regarding that suggestion, Click this, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVJBH1353EI, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QopIcZyxt20&t=35s

Thank you for taking the time to read what we consider a cry of hope to perhaps finally fix the server up.

Thanks for the feedback.

A lot has changed now.. to where this is no longer relevant.

An unban is not out of the question right now, we don't have plans to but it could be a thing in the future but I don't think we will but.. anything is possible.

Everything else was mentioned in the previous suggestion.
