Evasion Penalties (/go pvp)(S1/4)
/go pvp is underdeveloped comparing with the success of other subservers for ExtremeCraft. this is (1) out of 4 suggestions to improve the PVP experience for players on this server, split for ease of management and tracking.
#Evasion Penalties#
A lot of players feel more than free to evade matches, due to the lack of consequences. i personally face ~50% of my total matches per day where a player leaves. you can simply do /forfeit in a match, or leave the game, and log back in without any repercussions to avoid a match. it may be a good feature in case one's latency is too high or they experience technical issues, however, more than enough people are abusing this feature that it is hightime a countermeasure is implemented. one of the reasons to leave is to forbid the other player from granting the kill to their stats and adding another death to yours.
My suggestion is implementing this countermeasure, a few ideas come to mind:
- a cooldown to how often you're able to forfeit/leave the game mid match. tracking /forfeit is easier than leaving the game, but it can be also tracked since the system logs the player who left as the loser, that could be a hook point to implementing the check. since /forfeit cant be evaded if a cooldown is implemented, players might resort to leaving the game altogether to log back in. to counter that, a temporary restriction from queueing to a match can be a good solution.
- warns/tempbans. under the server's "Offensive and Gameplay-Related Behaviour" rules section, it is stated that "Abusing commands to escape PvP" is disallowed behaviour. this does include using /forfeit or leaving the game (sort of) if im not mistaken. the problem with this, is you'd have to record, log, upload and manually report every player that keeps evading matches consistently. it is simply impractical to report that many players as it'd flood reports adding more work to moderators and the players trying to report themselves. personally, i'd have to make over 50 report tickets daily to catch up with the amount of people who do this. so my suggestion is to simply automate this process; after the detection of a player leaving mid match and both players' kill and death count hasnt changed after the match ended, an automated warn/tempban should be issued to the evading player. im unfamiliar with the system this server uses to carry out infractions on players but it would be a very efficient solution to deter players from evasion.
i hope to see this suggestion approved along the others to help better the /go pvp experience. thank you for reading.Posted in Improvements for PvP, status closed, Upvotes: 3, Downvotes: -1
