Request for Reconsideration of Removed Named Items and Decorations
Hello ExtremeCraft Team,
I am writing to raise a serious concern about the removal of items with custom names and other decorative features. This change occurred in very late 2024, and it impacted me so much that I lost the motivation to play entirely. I am only bringing this up now, in mid-2025, because I still feel very bad about it, and returning to ExtremeCraft made me realize how much this change has taken away.
Many essential features were removed:
- No more anvil-named items (a core part of creativity and personalization).
- Potions are completely unusable, despite being a normal Minecraft mechanic.
- No more writable books in general.
- Even decorations such as item frames and armor stands disappeared from my base.
For example: my base used to be full of unique details—frames, armor stands, decorated items—yet one day everything was just wiped. I didn’t bother replacing them, because I was worried the server would simply remove them again. That really killed the motivation to build and decorate. I had spent a lot of time making it special, and seeing it vanish made me not want to play anymore.
One of the worst losses for me was when I took an elytra, renamed it in an anvil as “Wings,” and placed it in an item frame beneath a sign that read:
“When you think of birds, you think of”
The elytra was meant to complete that quote, a centerpiece in my base. Instead, it instantly disappeared from my inventory the moment I renamed it. That wasn’t just an item—it was part of the story of my base, and now it’s gone.
Thankfully, I had already saved my renamed items inside the creative library slots. I even went out of my way to upgrade my base on my own private server. But it wasn’t the same—because my story didn’t start on a server I just made. It started on ExtremeCraft, and that makes all the difference.
I completely understand the need for rules to prevent exploits, but right now things feel overly restrictive. We can’t even use potions, one of Minecraft’s standard features. Removing named items, books, frames, and stands strips away much of the creativity and personalization that makes Minecraft special in the first place.
I am asking you to please reconsider these restrictions. At the very least, allow decorative use of renamed items (especially harmless ones like renamed tools or elytras in item frames), books, and potions. These are basic parts of Minecraft, and without them, bases and builds lose their soul.
I truly enjoy your server, but this change has taken away something that makes Minecraft feel alive. Please restore these features or find a middle ground that protects gameplay without erasing creativity.
Thank you for taking the time to read this—I hope you’ll consider bringing back what makes building on ExtremeCraft truly special.
Sincerely,
HisYakitori
